Catch Your Breath Talks Their New Single "Ghost Inside The Shell" | Exclusive Interview

Austin, Texas's 4-piece metalcore act Catch Your Breath just released their single "Ghost Inside The Shell" today (August 23rd). The band also announced a Deluxe Edition of their 2023 album "Shame On Me".

With "Ghost Inside The Shell" Catch Your Breath furthers their addictively catchy vocal hooks, emotional lyrics, and melody-driven hard rock sound. Ambient verses with booming 808s and electronic beats create a strong contrast between the anthemic choruses. Catch Your Breath doesn't limit themselves to just clean vocals and even features a crushingly heavy breakdown. "Ghost Inside The Shell" takes listeners on a voyage that explores the depths of inner struggle, turmoil, and being on the verge of collapse.

Vocalist Josh Mowery had this to say about the track:

“Ghost Inside The Shell is a song about life’s struggles catching up to you” says Mowery. “ You aren’t sure where things went wrong or why they never seem to work out, but you are at the end of your rope and need an escape.”

Catch Your Breath continues to cement themselves as a band that will unflinchingly delve into the darker aspects of human emotion to help listeners come out stronger on the other side.

We got a chance to talk to Catch Your Breath about "Ghost Inside The Shell" and plans for the future.

Ghost Inside The Shell" is a powerful song lyrically & musically, what inspired this new single?

“I think we all sometimes go through this feeling of always trying but never going anywhere. You try your absolute best, your hardest, and for what? Sometimes you try too hard you lose sense of yourself and who you are because you spend all your being just trying to survive. Makes you want to end it all and give up. We hope this song helps anyone who might be stuck feeling this way.”

Does It ever feel surreal looking back before "Dial Tone" and seeing how fast Catch Your Breath blew up? What's the biggest change since then?

“It's always surreal and unbelievable everyday living through it! You don't see this happening that much really at all, so we're so grateful our song can have THAT kind of impact. The biggest change for all of us is how people perceive us in general. They see the numbers and charts and stuff, but we still see ourselves being at the same place we were before “Dial Tone”. Although now we do the band full time which is the best job in the world to have!”

With your upcoming September Tour with Dayseeker, Alphawolf, and Kingdom of Giants coming up, what is the most memorable story/moment the band has had on a show or tour?

“Most memorable moment we had on a show would have to be when we were on the Popular Monstour tour with Falling In Reverse. When the entire arena lit up their cell phone lights to Dial Tone. I'll never forget that feeling.”

What lies in the future for Catch Your Breath?

“We want to try to release new music as soon as we can, all the time. Thinking of kind of following the Falling In Reverse strategy and how they did it for their most recent album. Also a lot of touring and traveling for Catch Your Breath! Hopefully we'll do our first US headline someday soon.”

What's one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring band/musician?

Don't neglect your social medias and don't treat it like a billboard! You're supposed to be social on social media, not treat it like an advertisement. Make the best songs possible, don't be afraid to collab with other people, and have fun with making good content around your music. Never stop trying to promote your best song either. Because it doesn't matter if you have millions of streams on it, there are still millions more people who don't even know who you are.
