Class-Action Lawsuit Filed Against Capulet Fest 2024
As of the end of July, there is now a class-action lawsuit against Capulet Entertainment and Capulet Fest‘s promoter Estevan Vega.
Following the disastrous turnout of Capulet Fest in June, the lawsuit was filed on July 22nd. The attorney representing the ticket-buyers, Oren Faircloth, stated this to Lambgoat:
"We believe Capulet Entertainment should be held accountable for its alleged misrepresentations and mishandling of Capulet fest 2024. In our complaint, we are seeking not only financial restitution for the affected attendees but also injunctive relief and punitive damages to enforce transparency and fairness in future event promotions and to ensure that this type of occurrence is not repeated." - Oren Faircloth
Capulet Entertainment is being accused of Breach of Contract, Deceptive and Unlawful Practices, Negligence, and more. You can read the full lawsuit for yourself in this post in the “Victims of Capulet Fest” Facebook Page.
What Happened At Capulet Fest 2024?
Capulet Fest was originally supposed to be held at Thompson Speedway in Connecticut with a max capacity of 13,000. The festival’s venue was unexpectedly and without notice moved to The Webster, a venue in Hartford, CT over 50 miles away and with a much smaller capacity of 1,200. We later discovered that this was due to the fact that Capulet Fest was not willing to pay for the Thompson Speedway’s insurance or for the production crew that had all been set up and agreed upon previously.
Following the venue change over 20 of the original 50 bands on the lineup backed out of the festival - and rightfully so. With little to no communication between Capulet Fest and the bands, fans, and vendors, everyone involved was confused and left without answers.
The festival was planned for 3 days, June 28th-30th but fans on-site reported that venue security ended the festival early due to Capulet Fest not paying rent. Unfortunately everyone but Capulet Fest ended up being screwed over - vendors werenot given spots they paid for, fans didn’t receive the show they paid for at locations they were told, bands where kept out of the loop, not paid, and Capulet Fest didn’t hold up to their end of the contract.
Capulet Fest has been holding firm with their no-refund policy, which makes the whole situation seem shady and seem like a scheme to scam everyone involved.
The class-action lawsuit gives hope to the situation and we hope fans, bands, and vendors are able to be reimbursed for financial losses and damages. It’s unfortunate to see events that take away from what festivals are truly about, the music and the memories.
