Mood of a Sinner Releases Upcoming December 23rd Single “Danse Anastasis”

San Diego, California gothic rock act Mood of a Sinner is proud to announce their newest single “Danse Anastasis” is out now! Forming shortly after the Pandemic, Mood of a Sinner brings their distinct sound that mixes influences of black metal, deathrock, emo/gothic rock, and more into a cohesive and deeply thought-provoking sound!

Mood of a Sinner was formed as a creative outlet to experiment with religious themes, theatrical elements, storytelling, and all things surrealism. The band gave this statement on their inception:

“The mood of a sinner is in all of us. Yet, one has the ability to choose how to act with this self-knowledge. We do not promote the act of sin. However, we do not ignore it. The nature of our wickedness should be explored and understood without indulging in the atrocities we often hear from the papers. That is why the humanities, such as music, dance, theatre, poetry and art serve as the perfect medium for this purpose. Hence, the reason why we are here.”

“Danse Anastasis” is a deeply atmospheric and dark display of gothic rock that mixes deeply intricate soundscapes with raw vocals and eerie melodies. Haunting reverb, screeching distortion, and whisper-screaming vocals create an intensely ominious sound that fans of black metal, deathrock, and everything alternative, are sure to enjoy.

“Danse Anastasis” tells the tale of Gregory, a shy young man who falls in love with a ballerina who meets an untimely demise. In an act of desperation he discovers a ritual which will bring her back to life, but in a drastic turn of events, things don’t end up how he imagines. The song is a gruesome reminder for man to not “play god” and to not tamper with that which you do not understand.

“Thou Never Dreameth” is a wonderfully written song, told through a concerned lens of poverty and suffering, about a fearful soul who is deeply confused, even angered, by a lost loved one’s, perhaps indoctrinated, lifestyle choices. - White Light
