Song Review | "Carved In Stone" - Mersier
Spotify Cover: Mersier

5-piece progressive rock/metal band Mersier released their debut album "Carved In Stone" on June 23rd. The album's title track begins with powerful guitar and synchronous double bass drumming and chugging. The heavier instrumentals soon transition into lighter electric guitar and emotional vocals. Mersier swiftly changes back into heavy-hitting metal instrumentals alongside melodic vocals to create a well-constructed and catchy chorus.

Clocking in at 4-and-a-half minutes, "Carved In Stone" shows an excellent distribution of heavy metal and melody-based vocals. After an energetic 2nd chorus, Mersier adds a descending tempo drum beat that blasts into an instrumental outro with brutal guitar work at the forefront. As the intro gradually fades out more sounds are added, crafting a truly full atmosphere. The band's progressive and distinct sound is influenced by bands such as Gojira and System of  Down. Fans of progressive rock and metal will highly enjoy "Carved In Stone". You can stream the full album now!
