Song Review | "Dance of the Devil" - Ashabah
Ashabah, a fresh black metal group, has members hailing from the U.S., Brazil, Chile, and Algeria. The band released their debut self-titled album on October 13th and the 7-track LP displays their black metal sound that mixes in elements from classic metal, thrash, and even death metal genres. The second track off of the album, "Dance of the Devil" begins with a drum roll that explodes into bright guitar riffage that shows influences beyond black metal's typical darker guitar tones. Rapid guitar melodies, blast beats, and atmospheric, raw vocals all work in unison to form a complete sound. Ashabah does an excellent job of blending melody, dissonance, and intensity into their own unique style. The song features samples of cheering, clapping, and laughing that perfectly displays the ambience of a crowd dancing around a fire performing a sort of ritual.
Clocking in at a little over 4 minutes, "Dance of the Devil" keeps an energetic thrash-pacing throughout, yet also keeps the sound varied and intriguing. Fans of black metal, melodic death metal, extreme metal genres, and classic metal will enjoy Ashabah. You can check out their new debut album now!
