4: Green Machine
4-piece instrumental outfit, Escape Velocity, released their debut 4 song EP “New Dynamic (Redux)”. Starting off with opener, “Fabrication” begins with crushing bass tones and bright jazz-influenced progressive guitar riffage. Mixing elements of jazz/blues, rock, and metal, Escape Velocity creates a unique and exciting instrument-driven sound. Energetic double bass drumming, chunky bass, and powerful lead guitar melodies work together to form an attractive track to open the EP.
The second track “N.I.P” starts off with ambient acoustic guitar and gentle yet deep bass creating a reverb-filled sound. In a drastic transition, Escape Velocity switches to distorted guitar and more dramatic drumming. With an overall dark and grunge feel, the song does an excellent job of forming a distinct atmosphere and creating those feelings in the listener. The nearly 5-minute track takes you on a journey through an ominous and heavy-hitting soundscape.
“Inside/Out” starts with aggressive guitar chugging and rapid bass runs, forming a distinctly heavy metal sound alongside soaring guitar melodies. Escape Velocity does an expert job of creating juxtaposition between the song’s heavy instrumentals and melodic leads, forming a strong sense of contrast.
The final track, “Green Machine” has guitar-driven lead riffs overtop of funky bass melodies and technical drum work. Alternated strumming and chugging create a fierce djent sound, that musicians and metal heads will truly appreciate. Sliding guitar creates an energetic and dynamic sound that stays unique and fresh throughout the track. After a powerful guitar solo and ambient bridge, “Green Machine” gradually closes out the album.
Escape Velocity creates an exciting fusion of jazz genres alongside rock and metal to make a progressive and refined sound that fans of those genres are sure to enjoy! You can stream, “New Dynamic (Redux)” out now!
