Song Review | "Mother" - Alibis
Californian-forged band, Alibis released their 2nd track, "Mother" in September, produced by Mitch Marlow. The song introduces itself with gentle singing vocals with distant electronic beats and a complex vocal layering build-up until the full band joins in with an explosion. Energetic guitar progressions create a deep soundscape behind dynamic female lead vocal hooks. The song's chorus creates a powerful atmosphere that is broken down with verses that leave you in anticipation. The verses utilize djent-like bass grooves and fierce guitar chugs that create a dramatic and exciting sound. Alibis's latest release shows off a style that uses huge anthemic choruses, excellent vocal melodies, heavy guitars, and electronic elements to blend progressive rock with metal elements.
In a large energy shift, "Mother" drifts into a bridge filled with a soaring guitar solo and vocal build-ups before bursting into a shortened final chorus. Alibis then transitions into a creative ambient outro that gradually fades out the song. Fans of progressive genres, djent, and rock are sure to enjoy Alibis impressive release!
