Song Review | "Space Paper / Acid Saloon" - WyndRider
Hailing from Tennessee, Stoner Doom band WyndRider put out their 3-track self-titled release in March. This track has a runtime of a whopping 7 minutes and 23 seconds. "Space Paper / Acid Saloon" has an overall raw vibe and sticks to the classic atmosphere found in doom, sludge, and stoner genres. The track has an ominous and dark feel to the instrumentals, especially through the distorted guitar tone. The Vocals kick in a little after 1 minute into the song and are haunting and cleanly sung, filling up the atmosphere even more.
WyndRider is not afraid to experiment with their style and shows this throughout the 7-minute song that features distortion, guitar feedback, droning effects in the background, and much more, helping to create a unique sound. The track even throws in a bright guitar solo that changes up the dynamics of the song and adds a new element of high energy in contrast to the slower pace of much of the guitarwork thus far. Fans of Doom, Sludge, Stoner, and Experimental Music will enjoy WyndRider! Their full album is available on their Bandcamp with select other songs available on streaming services, check it out!
