Song Review | “The Arrival” - Jovian Storms
Space-themed band, Jovian Storms, released their debut album “Hexa” in October. Off of the band’s 6-song release, “The Arrival” is a 6 and a half minute instrumental track that starts with ambient acoustic guitar before bursting into explosive bass tones, energetic drumming, and heavy-hitting distorted guitar riffage. With an overall explorative and fuzz-driven sound, Jovian Storms creates a track that creates a celestial soundscape that fans of progressive rock/metal, psychedelic genres and instrumental music are bound to enjoy.
Dramatic chords, drum fills, and earth-trembling bass lines, create an intensely experimental sound that bases itself in melody. “The Arrival” shifts back into gentle ambient guitar and bass tones creating a strong juxtaposition in contrast to the aggressive and crushing instrumentals featured previously. Jovian Storms creates a vibrant and dynamic sound through catchy chord progressions and angelic instrumentals before launching into a dark and powerfully heavy section. “The Arrival” gradually fades into conclusion.
