Columbus, Ohio rock band, BreakAway released their latest single, "Icarus" on January 21st. The track starts with lofi guitar and drums that build up before bursting into heavy hitting riffage with distant haunting choir vocals. Dark guitar chugging and gentle singing vocals set a powerful atmosphere that launches into an catchy chorus with vocals going up an octave to create an energetic shift of dynamics.
Mixing rock and metal guitar styles with melodic singing, "Icarus" displays a distinct mix of rock and metal that fans of both genres are sure to enjoy. Intricate vocal harmonies and passionate singing make the shift to distorted guitar leads so much more dramatic. BreakAway does an excellent job of forming contrast in their music and creating strong vocal hooks that will certainly be stuck in your head.
